Connected Insight — Providing Customized Inspection Systems Powered by Machine Vision
Jaejun Lee, CEO of Connected Insight (Selected for the 2025 Startup Leap Package)
Replaces visual inspection traditionally performed by workers on manufacturing lines with precise and high-speed positioning and inspection
Provides customized inspection systems and solutions that detect defects such as foreign particles, scratches, and stains
Connected Insight is a company that provides integrated inspection solutions covering software development, 2D and 3D vision, AI, and optical design, based on its expertise in machine vision technology.
The company was founded in March 2021 by Jaejun Lee, 48, and brings together experts specializing in machine vision inspection equipment.
“I worked as a control engineer for 18 years in advanced manufacturing equipment industries, including displays, semiconductors, and solar cells. I then spent four years at a U.S. company that was the global leader in machine vision, where I expanded my technical experience and gained a deeper understanding of the global inspection systems industry. I founded Connected Insight based on that experience.”
Connected Insight develops and supplies customized inspection systems that replace visual inspection performed by workers in a wide range of manufacturing processes, including semiconductors, displays, batteries, and electronic devices.
These systems precisely and rapidly align components and detect defects such as foreign particles, scratches, and stains.
“Machine vision is one of the key technologies driving smart manufacturing in the era of Industry 4.0, and its importance continues to grow every year. Because it directly affects production yield and product quality, our goal at Connected Insight is not simply to provide solutions. We want to create innovation by looking at the manufacturing process as a whole and providing insights based on that understanding.”
Connected Insight works with a variety of companies through its global network and has recruited highly skilled engineers from overseas. Through this approach, the company has built both local expertise and the ability to expand its technology globally.
This structure allows Connected Insight to respond quickly and flexibly to changes in its customers' industries while maintaining consistent technical quality.
“Until now, I have focused on developing our business by taking full responsibility for every task we were given and never giving up. Going forward, however, I want Connected Insight to become a company that customers actively recommend and seek out because of our excellence, achieved through software standardization and advanced technologies.
To make that happen, we will focus not only on technology development but also on employee training and capability building. Our goal is to grow into an organization that consistently delivers outstanding results.”
Growing Through Its Own Revenue
Connected Insight has not received external investment. The company started with approximately KRW 50 million in initial capital.
The company is currently generating stable profits through its existing business model.
Lee said:
“We have no plans to raise external investment. We intend to continue growing based on our own revenue.”
Why Did Lee Start the Company?
Lee explained that his decision to start a business was driven by a desire to create opportunities and value beyond simply earning a salary.
“I realized that while a salary is enough to support my family, there are limits to how much I can help others or create greater value through a regular job.
From that point on, I wanted to do something that went beyond simply making a living—something that could create opportunities and provide meaningful help to others. That's why I decided to start a business.”
Since founding the company, Lee says he has sometimes felt the weight of responsibility, but also experiences a strong sense of fulfillment from being able to provide stable employment and better opportunities for others.
“Sometimes the weight of responsibility can feel overwhelming. But I feel a great sense of fulfillment when I can provide someone with a regular salary, as well as good opportunities and a better working environment.”
A Team of 32 in Korea and Vietnam
Lee describes Connected Insight as an organization made up of both machine vision specialists and new talent.
The company operates through Sales, Technology, and Management teams, with a total of 32 employees—24 in Korea and 8 in Vietnam—working together as one team.
Looking Ahead
When asked about the company's future plans, Lee emphasized that maintaining the right principles and attitude is more important than setting overly ambitious goals.
“Rather than setting grand goals, I believe it is more important to be clear about the attitudes and principles we need to uphold.
We have made honesty and transparency, perseverance in the face of difficulties, and our responsibility to society as a company our core values.
Continuing to uphold these principles without compromise is itself the growth we seek, and it represents the kind of company we want to become.”
